Delhi High Court has asked various Bar Associations in Delhi to hold a meeting with senior Delhi Police officers to strengthen the security in court complexes in India’s national capital.
The direction came after a lawyer shot a woman in this Saket court complex in Delhi. The lawyer was debarred.
On April 21 a debarred lawyer fired 4 rounds at a woman and this was the second incident of firing that was reported from the court complex in Delhi in less than two years
Earlier in 2021 three people including the gangster Jitender Gogi were reportedly shot dead inside a courtroom at the Rohini court.
Many petitions were filed in High Court back then on the same issue & the High Court also initiated suo moto public interest litigation and passed several directions to the police and other authority for strengthening security in court complexes.

The court today took note of the incident at the Saket court and asked the authorities to hold a meeting with the police and discuss the suggestions to increase security within two days
The Saket Court Bar Association through its Advocate stated that they had made suggestions in these petitions though some of the suggestions have been implemented there are still issues that need to be addressed.
The Delhi Police through its Advocate Stated that they have taken steps in compliance with earlier orders of the court it was stated that the CCTVs are being installed and the Delhi Police has done a fantastic job.
The court stated that it will consider the matter again in July.
