Aftab Poonawalla, who is charged with murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, had his judicial custody extended by a Delhi court for an additional 14 days.
According to police investigating the case, on May 18, following a fight between the couple in a rental apartment in Mehrauli, the accused strangled the victim before chopping her body into 35 pieces, storing them in a refrigerator, and dumping the pieces over the course of the following 18 days in various locations around the city.
A public interest litigation (PIL) petition requesting that the Central Bureau of Investigation take over the case’s investigation from the Delhi Police was recently dismissed by the Delhi High Court (CBI).
