Supreme Court Dismisses Petitions on NEET-PG 2022 Exam Discrepancies

Supreme Court Dismisses Petitions on NEET-PG 2022 Exam Discrepancies

Introduction:

Advocate Avani Bansal, representing six writ petitioners, contended before the Supreme Court concerning alleged discrepancies in the NEET-PG 2022 examination. The petitioners sought disclosure of answer keys, answer sheets, and questioned the validity of certain clauses in the NEET-PG Information Bulletin. However, the vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah dismissed the petitions, citing their irrelevance due to the passage of time.

Arguments of Both Sides:

Bansal argued that despite the lapse of time, the petitions remained relevant, particularly for two petitioners scheduled to take the NEET PG 2024 examination. She highlighted the National Board of Examination’s (NBE) refusal to provide access to crucial examination materials, despite ongoing concerns.

On the contrary, the bench expressed disinclination to entertain the matter further, emphasizing the need to avoid unnecessary prolongation of legal proceedings.

Court’s Judgement:

The Supreme Court, deeming the petitions infructuous, dismissed them. However, it provided an avenue for petitioners with grievances concerning subsequent NEET examinations to pursue legitimate concerns.
