How would you feel if you are not even safe with your teachers? A country like India where in our oldest scriptures Vedas, Upanishads, Guru has been given the top most place. Indian Society since Independence has been very reluctant about girl education. Some instances shook our very soul and make us question where we are going as a society?

A similar instance was observed in Mumbai where a male teacher sexually assaulted four girl child. In the case of State of Maharashtra v. Charudatta Borolel, Special Judge Nazera Shaikh sentenced a 35-year-old teacher, to rigorous imprisonment of 5 years under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and for Sexual Harassment under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

She quoted while giving the judgement “In our society, girl child education is still not completely supported by the family and when such type of incidents is committed, the parents gets apprehensive in sending daughters to school. It impacts the opportunity of other girls from taking education.”
