Mobile phones have become an integral part of daily life, according to Kerala High Court Single-Judge Justice PV Kunhikrishnan, and there is insufficient proof to back up concerns that radiation from mobile towers has detrimental effects. The petitioner would have needed to call the attorney on a mobile phone, he continued, because mobile phones are now ingrained in all facets of society.
Kunhikrishnan, a single judge on the bench, questioned the petitioner, “Counsellor, do you not have a mobile?” The petitioner called you on a cell phone to let you know about the tower, right? Who nowadays can survive without a mobile device? When informed that the petitioner fears that the cell tower may produce dangerous radiation, Justice Kunhikrishnan remarked that the matter had already been addressed by a number of the Court’s earlier rulings. He also mentioned the absence of proof for the suspicion of harmful emissions. Despite the advocate’s repeated requests, the Court declined to hear the matter and ordered it to be listed on 1st June.
