Introduction
After a protest was organised at DU on January 27, the student organiser was prohibited from taking any university exams for a year. It’s said that the crowd watched the BBC documentary India: The Modi Question as the protest was going on. Students engaged in “gross indiscipline” when they screened the outlawed Modi documentary without authorization and organized protests despite the implementation of prohibitory orders. The university claimed that it took action against the students who planned the documentary screening as a result of newspaper reports claiming that the two-part series had been outlawed in India.
Decision of court
A Delhi institution (DU) order banning Lokesh Chugh, national secretary of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), from the institution for reportedly arranging the screening of the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was overturned by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav.
