Factual Background of the Case 

In a case, a lawyer insisted that a name of an advocate be listed as having appeared in the issue on the order sheet. A lawyer demanded that the presence of an advocate be noted before a bench presided by the CJI. The CJI objected, saying that he was well aware of everyone who had participated in the case.

Analysis of the decision 

The Courts cannot record an advocate’s appearance if they haven’t made an appearance in the matter, according to the bench led by CJI Chandrachud. The CJI declined, despite the lawyer’s insistence, saying that he remembered who had appeared in the case and that the court wasn’t intended to make money for solicitors.
