CBI Not Required to Provide Information Under RTI Act, Exempted Under Section 24: Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court has ruled that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is not required to provide any information requested under the RTI Act because it is listed in the second schedule under Section 24 of the Act, which exempts some organisations from the Act.

According to Section 24 of the RTI Act, the Act does not apply to the intelligence and security agencies listed in the Second Schedule, which are organisations formed by the Central Government, or any information provided to that government by such organisations. [Information relating to charges of corruption and human rights violations are not exempt.]
