Punjab and Haryana HC: Cannot call persons who did not attend physical classes Engineers

The Punjab and Haryana high court set aside an order of the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC) to promote an employee to the post of executive engineer on 21 July. The employee had obtained a degree in civil engineering through distance learning. The HC stated, “A person who has not physically attended the classes/course and has not undertaken practical training cannot be said to be an engineer.”

Bombay HC deems that the wrongdoings of Government workers cannot go unpunished

While hearing an appeal by a former MSRTC bus conductor against an order directing for the termination of services of the appellant, the Bombay High Court observed, “The approach in this country of believing that when one works for government no action can ever be taken no matter how persistently one is found to be doing wrong is an approach that needs to now stop as fast as possible."

Bombay HC: CJ Dipankar Datta recuses hearing plea against CBI Director addressed to CJI NV Ramana

Bombay High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Dipankar Datta on Thursday recused from hearing the petition seeking quashing of the appointment of Subodh Kumar Jaiswal as Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). CJ Datta said in open court that the petitioner in the case, Rajendrakumar V Trivedi wrote to Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana complaining about Justice Datta."It seems the petitioner has written a letter to the CJI. It is not in good taste. How do we defend ourselves," the CJ asked.
