Visually Impaired Court Staff Trained in Digital Accessibility by Supreme Court E-Committee

Supreme Court E Committee

The Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi, hosted a Digital Accessibility training for visually impaired court staff members of District and Taluk courts from Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Madras, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, and across the nation on May 15–16.

Each participant received a laptop loaded with accessible software like NVDA for the two days of hands-on instruction.The participants who successfully completed the training received certificates from IIPA Director General SN Tripathi.Participants in the programme included court employees from district and taluk courts in Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Madras, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Telangana.

The programme was coordinated by the committee member R Arulmozhiselvi, Member (HR), E-Committee, with assistance from the special educators Rajender Singh Negi from NIEPVD and Inderpreet Singh (NAB), as well as Dr. Surabhi Pandey, IIPA. 

Aims and objective

One of the main goals of the Supreme Court E-committee, which is run under the direction of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, is to make the Indian court system’s digital infrastructure more accessible to people with disabilities.
